So I didn't even know this was a documentary when I put it in the Netflix queue.  This was an incredibly shocking and frustrating movie about our country's failed education system.  The personal stories throughout the film are touching.  I can't believe that the teachers unions hold so much power.  Sadly, I don't see how anything can be done to fix the mess we are in.

So I watched this film because my minister mentioned it in his sermon a few weeks ago and said it was his favorite film.  I sure hope he is referring to original film because this remake, while good, shouldn't be considered "a best film ever."

So I can't say I was surprised by this movie.  It was pretty dull and easy to guess the outcome.  Did we really think Gordon Gekko was a good guy?  Also, the whole birthday party during the credits was outrageously lame.  I can't believe Oliver Stone thought this was a good idea!

So I think this was trying to be a knock-off of Love, Actually which is actually good.  This movie, not so much.  Way too many sub-stories and not enough depth in each sub-story.  I don't care for this holiday or this movie.

Redondo Beach Super Bowl 5K results

So I got my results in for the Redondo Beach Super Bowl 5K.  They are not great but pretty good considering my less the stellar training.  Got to love that my name is spelled wrong!

Redondo Beach Super Bowl 5K

So I got my first race of 2011 under my belt.  It wasn't pretty but I did fine.  My training for the last couple of months has been horrible.  I haven't been able to get in too many runs since I have been so busy at work and at home.  Hopefully, I can get back into the swing of things and get some better times in.

So I am unsure of how this movie made it on our Netflix queue but it turned out pretty good.  I do like monster movies and this was almost like a District 9 knockoff (the aliens are quarantined).  Not great but a good sci-fi monster flick.
